Matariki scores new investor

It is official - UK-listed Phaunos Timber Fund has bought a NZ$167 million chunk of Matariki Forestry Group.

Phaunos is a global timberland and timber related assets investor listed on the main market of the London Stock Exchange and managed by FourWinds Capital Management based in Boston.

Matariki is owned by a consortium and managed by Rayonier New Zealand, a subsidiary of Rayonier Inc. Paul Nichols, managing director of Rayonier New Zealand, says Overseas Investment Office approval had been granted and the transaction was finalised today.

He says the Phaunos investment underlines the positive outlook for the company and he was looking forward to working with the widely experienced international timberlands investment group.
